FAQs - Futures Contract Value
Notional value, tick value and point value - with the exact CME figures for MNQ, NQ, MES and ES.
Multiply the price by the contract multiplier and by the number of contracts. The multiplier is the dollar value of a 1.0 move in the quoted price: $50 for ES, $20 for NQ, $5 for MES, $2 for MNQ, $1,000 for CL per $1 a barrel and $100 for GC per $1 an ounce. So one ES at a price of 6,000 controls $300,000 of S&P 500 exposure, and one MES at the same price controls $30,000.
MNQ (Micro E-mini Nasdaq-100) moves in 0.25-point ticks worth $0.50 each, per CME Group. That makes one index point $2.00 per contract, so a 10-point move on one MNQ is $20 and a 50-point move is $100.
NQ (E-mini Nasdaq-100) moves in 0.25-point ticks worth $5.00 each, so one index point is $20 per contract. NQ is exactly ten MNQ: the same 50-point move is $1,000 on one NQ and $100 on one MNQ.
MES (Micro E-mini S&P 500) moves in 0.25-point ticks worth $1.25 each, so one index point is $5.00 per contract. The full-size ES uses the same 0.25 tick at $12.50, or $50 a point - ten MES equal one ES.
Tick value is the tick size times the contract multiplier. ES: 0.25 × $50 = $12.50. CL: $0.01 × 1,000 barrels = $10. GC: $0.10 × 100 ounces = $10. ZB: 1/32 of a point × $1,000 = $31.25. The tick size and multiplier are set by the exchange, so tick value is the same at every broker and prop firm.
Most CME micros are one tenth of the full-size contract: MES/ES, MNQ/NQ, MYM/YM, M2K/RTY, MCL/CL, MNG/NG, MGC/GC and M6E/6E. The exceptions are Micro Silver (SIL, 1,000 ounces against SI’s 5,000, so one fifth), Micro Bitcoin (MBT, 0.10 bitcoin against BTC’s 5, one fiftieth) and Micro Ether (MET, 0.1 ether against ETH’s 50, one five-hundredth). E-mini Crude (QM) is half a CL.

FAQs - Prop Trading Questions Answered
Answers on prop firms, funded accounts, challenges and how our platform works
To save money on a funded trading account, traders can use verified prop firm discount codes available on Prop Firm Pal. By applying these promo codes during checkout, traders reduce the cost of evaluation challenges. Combining structured comparisons with active discounts helps traders choose competitive programs while lowering upfront costs.
Prop trading is generally legal in most countries, but the regulatory status of specific prop firms can vary. Some jurisdictions have introduced rules affecting how prop firms operate or market their services. Certain prop firms also restrict access to traders in specific countries. Prop Firm Pal includes restricted country information on individual firm pages so you can quickly check whether a firm is available to traders in your region.
Yes, most prop firms charge a one-time challenge fee to enter an evaluation program. This fee typically ranges from around $50 for smaller account sizes to several hundred dollars for larger funded accounts. The fee covers access to the evaluation environment. If you pass, some firms refund the challenge fee with your first payout. Firms offering free challenges are rare and often compensate by taking a larger profit split or applying stricter conditions.
The best prop firm for futures trading will offer access to CME or exchange-listed contracts, clear rules around leverage and contract limits, and a payout structure suitable for high-frequency or systematic futures strategies. Futures prop firms often operate differently from forex-focused ones, with different fee structures and account types. Prop Firm Pal includes futures-focused firms in its comparisons so you can evaluate which programs support your preferred instruments and trading approach.
Each prop firm page on Prop Firm Pal includes a detailed company overview, evaluation rules, profit targets, drawdown limits, profit split information, available account sizes, trading instruments, restricted countries, FAQs, and user reviews. We aim to provide everything a trader needs to evaluate a funded trading program in one place.
