NYS Markets Review: Rules, Profit Split & Payouts

NYS Markets is a prop firm that runs simulated funded accounts in four markets, CFDs, futures, stocks and crypto, and says it has more than 250,000 traders. The CFD side, where NYS Markets publishes the most detail, offers four challenges on MetaTrader 5: Instant funding with no profit target, the One Trade 1-step challenge, the 2-Step challenge and Flash, a 1-step evaluation with an activation fee charged on passing. CFD account sizes run from $10,000 to $200,000, with Instant from $5,000. Futures and stocks traders get The Thunder challenge, and crypto has Turbo, Pro, Step 2 and Instant Funded. The how-it-works page still describes three programs up to $150,000, weekly payouts and a split that scales to 100%; the help centre and terms describe the setup above.

The NYS Markets rules change by challenge. The 2-Step needs 8% in phase 1 and 5% in phase 2, with a 5% daily drawdown, a 10% static maximum drawdown, no minimum trading days, no time limit and no consistency rule; it costs $58 for $10,000 up to $998 for $200,000. One Trade has a 10% target, a 3% daily loss and a 6% static drawdown. Flash has a 6% target and a 4% end-of-day trailing drawdown with no daily limit. Instant has a 3% daily loss, a 5% trailing drawdown, a 1% maximum open risk and a 15% consistency rule. Funded accounts add a 2% maximum risk per trade idea, and funded One Trade and Flash accounts a 30% consistency rule. News trading is allowed in 2-Step and Flash evaluations but barred from 10 minutes before to 10 minutes after high-impact releases once funded.

NYS Markets pays an 80% profit split, or 100% with a checkout add-on. Payouts are on demand after 5 profitable days on a funded account, or 7 within 30 days on Instant, each worth at least 0.25% of the starting balance. The minimum payout is $50 and each request is capped at 2% of the initial balance, with processing in up to 24 hours after KYC. Fees are non-refundable once access is delivered, and the terms exclude residents of the United States, Russia and the UAE.

News trading is allowed during 2-Step and Flash evaluations, restricted for 10 minutes before and after high-impact news on funded CFD accounts and Instant, and allowed on the futures and stocks Thunder challenge.

Expert advisors are allowed only when the trader owns them and built them for personal use; third-party, bought, rented or shared EAs are prohibited.

Copy trading is allowed only between accounts the same trader owns and trades, including their own accounts at other prop firms, and never with third parties.

Hedging or opposite positions on the same instrument, in one account or across accounts, is prohibited.

Martingale and other recovery strategies that add to positions or increase size to recover losses are prohibited.

High-frequency trading, toxic order flow and latency arbitrage are prohibited.

The consistency rule is 15% on Instant, 30% on funded One Trade and Flash accounts and none on the 2-Step; going over it pauses payouts rather than breaching the account.

Overnight and weekend holding are permitted.

CFD evaluations have no minimum trading days, but a funded payout needs 5 profitable days, or 7 within 30 days on Instant.

The 2-Step challenge has no time limit in either phase.

There is no limit on evaluation accounts, but funded allocation is capped at $400,000 on CFDs and crypto and $300,000 on futures and stocks.

Account sharing, letting someone else trade the account and third-party account management are prohibited unless expressly approved in writing.

NYS Markets web traffic, month by month

Prop Firm Pal has tracked NYS Markets's website traffic every month since February 2026. In August 2026 the site received an estimated 859.25K visits, down 37% on the month before and up 584% over three months.

Its busiest month on record was July 2026 at roughly 1.36M visits. Traffic now is 37% below that peak.

Growth of this size usually means active marketing rather than anything about payout reliability. A firm can grow quickly and still have strict rules.

These are third-party estimates of website visits, collected once a month and stored against the month they describe. They are not trader counts, funded-account numbers or revenue.

How NYS Markets compares in size

Measured on estimated monthly website visits for August 2026, NYS Markets ranks 24 of the 477 prop firms Prop Firm Pal tracks — larger than 95% of them, at roughly 859.25K visits a month.

The ranking covers every firm measured between June 2026 and August 2026, each on its own latest reading in that window. Firms last measured before June 2026 are left out rather than shown with a stale figure, so the total moves month to month.

Size is not quality. A large firm is one that markets successfully, and several of the most visited firms in this ranking have the strictest rules; some of the smallest pay out reliably to everyone who asks. What the ranking is useful for is scale — whether you are looking at an established operation or something very new.
